Keep It Running Right — Maintenance & Brakes Done Properly

Staying on top of routine maintenance is the single best thing you can do for your vehicle's long-term health. At Auto Tech Services, we go by condition and mileage — not manufacturer-recommended intervals, which are often set to protect warranty liability, not to maximize the life of your engine. Manufacturers don't make money on parts that last. We tell you what actually needs attention.

We pair maintenance with complete brake service because the two go hand in hand. Brakes wear gradually and quietly, and catching a problem during a routine visit saves you money and keeps you safe. We inspect the full braking system every time your vehicle comes in.

Warning Signs to Watch For

Our Approach

We don't pad recommendations. If your brakes have life left, we'll tell you. If they need attention, we'll show you exactly what's going on and give you a straight price before we start. Every vehicle that comes through gets a full brake inspection as part of our standard check-in process.

Maintenance Is the Cheapest Repair You'll Ever Buy

Fluids wear out long before parts fail. Oil breaks down and stops protecting bearings, coolant loses its corrosion protection and starts eating water pumps, and brake fluid absorbs moisture until it can't do its job. Replacing a fluid costs a fraction of replacing the part it was protecting — that's the whole case for maintenance in one sentence.

Every visit includes a free photo-based digital vehicle inspection, so you see the actual condition of your brakes, tires, belts, and fluids — wear shows up in the photos long before it becomes a breakdown on the side of the road. When a fluid system needs more than a drain and fill, we offer BG Products services for deeper cleaning and protection, and if your transmission fluid is due, our transmission service page covers what's involved. We've been family-owned since 2010, and this is how we've always worked: inspect, show you, and let you decide.

Brake Service You Can Feel

Brakes are a system, not just pads. Pads wear down, rotors wear thin or develop runout, calipers stick, and brake fluid quietly absorbs moisture until it boils under hard use and the pedal goes soft. A proper brake job accounts for all of it — including the fluid — which is why we inspect the whole system instead of just bolting on new pads.

Driving around here works brakes harder than most places. The hills on the west side of the Lake of the Ozarks mean long stretches of downhill braking, and if you're towing a boat, all that extra weight goes straight through your brakes at every stop. We service drivers from Versailles, Eldon, Stover, Barnett, Laurie, Gravois Mills, Sunrise Beach, and across greater Morgan County. If your pedal feels different than it used to — softer, lower, noisier — that's your cue to get it checked, not a reason to wait and see.

Maintenance & Brake FAQs

How often should I change my oil?
It depends on your vehicle and the oil it takes — full synthetic goes further between changes than conventional. Rather than a one-size-fits-all sticker, we set your interval to your manufacturer's schedule and the way you actually drive, then check the oil's condition at every visit as part of the free digital vehicle inspection.
Why are my brakes squealing?
A steady squeal often means the pads' built-in wear indicators are touching the rotor — that's a warning, not a failure. Squealing can also come from glazed pads or debris caught between the pad and rotor. Either way, get it inspected soon: pads are cheap next to the rotors they'll chew up once the friction material runs out. Call or text 573-378-7300 and we'll take a look.
How do I know when I need new brake pads?
Squealing, grinding, longer stopping distances, a pulsing pedal, or a pull to one side when braking are all signs. But you don't have to guess — every visit includes a photo-based digital vehicle inspection with pictures of your actual pad thickness, so you can see the wear for yourself and plan the job before it's urgent.
Do you rotate tires and do alignment checks with service?
Tire rotation is part of routine maintenance here, and it's cheap insurance against uneven wear. During your visit we also look over tire condition, wear patterns, and steering and suspension components — if the wear pattern points to an alignment issue, we'll show you the photos and talk through the next step before anything gets done.
How long does an oil change or brake job take?
An oil change is usually done while you wait, and most brake jobs are finished the same day — we'll give you an honest time estimate when you book. Our waiting room is comfortable, Gathering Grounds coffee shop is right next door, and for longer jobs we have loaner cars so you're not stuck without a ride. We're open Mon–Fri, 8:00 to 5:00.
